Surely you’re already working on your summer wardrobe, which must include those pieces made by you.  Those fresh and original ones that will accompany you on vacations and sunny afternoons with friends.  For this type of garment, we suggest the texture of the triangle lace crochet stitch combined with a cool material like our Mixed Yarn— it’ll be the star of the season.

For this step by step, we’ve used one skein of Mixed Yarn and a 5 mm crochet hook.

Before getting started, here’s a list of the stitches that we are going to use in case you need a refresher on them:

Let’s get started!

Start by crocheting a multiple of 6 chains + 3 extra that will count as the turning chains for the next row.

Row 1: work the whole row (until the last chain) in double crochet. At the end, work a turning chain.

Row 2: start the row working 1 single crochet, then *chain 4, skip 5 stitches from the previous row, 1 single crochet in the 6th double crochet (as you see in the photo above)*. Repeat from * to * until the end of the row.

At the end, work 1 turning change.

Row 3: 1 slip stitch. Then *1 single crochet, chain 4, 1 triple crochet, 1 double crochet, 1 half double crochet, 1 single crochet, 1 slip stitch in the single crochet of the row below*. Repeat from * to * until the end of the row.

Row 4: begin the row chaining 8, skip 5 stitches from the row below, *1 single crochet in the 4th chain in the upper vertex of the triangle, then chain 5 and again skip 5 stitches*. Repeat from * to * until the end of the row. Work 2 turning chains.

Row 5: begin the row working 1 double crochet, then *5 consecutive double crochet in the 4 chains from the previous row, 1 double crochet*. Repeat from * to * until the end of the row. Finish with 1 turning chain.

To make your work longer, simply repeat rows 2 through 5 as many times as you need.

As always, we look forward to seeing how this stitch looks in your makes. Maybe it will be that top that you won’t be able to stop wearing?  Or a vest to give an original touch to your most basic t-shirts?  Or… maybe a bag?  We can’t wait for you to share it on social media with us using the hashtag #weareknitters.
